Pearl Valley Golf & Country Estate (10.4km)
“One of the most attractive aspects of Pearl Valley Golf & Country Estate is its iconic golf course. This masterpiece was shaped by the vision of golf legend Jack Nicklaus and his unique touch is evident throughout the course. Officially opened in November 2003 by Nicklaus and South African great, Gary Player, Pearl Valley Golf Estates was named ‘best new golf course of the year’ by Golf Digest magazine in 2005, ranked as the best conditioned golf course in the Western Cape by Golf Digest for 2010/2011/2012/2013/2014 and awarded the Compleat Golfer’s Five Star Experience Award for six consecutive years.
The home of the SA Open for three consecutive years in 2007, 2008 and 2009 provides you with a stern yet enjoyable golfing test. During the 2008 South African Open, 2007 US Masters Champion Trevor Immelman was full of praise saying, ‘the course is in incredible condition, it really is. That’s the way I expected the course to be, to a high standard, and they have always turned out a fantastic course, for the members day-in day-out. I really feel like these fairways; they are some of the best, if not the best, that I’ve ever played on.’”
“The magnificent 18-hole Championship golf course needs little introduction, offering a regular challenge to both local and international golfers alike. The original layout, designed by Ken Elkin, who designed many of the Capes better known courses, has seen several improvements over the last 5 years and is constantly undergoing improvements but still remains a true ‘country course’.
Devonvale is fortunate enough to have a large dam in the centre of the course, which feeds the irrigation system, and therefore the golf course doesn’t make use of potable water. About 90% of the water utilised is recycled or harvested and in 2006 Cape Irrigation Systems and Devonvale Golf course won the LIA Environmental Management Water Conservation Trophy for best practice water conservation.
An important aspect of Devonvale’s existence is the hosting of tournaments. The estate has seen the hosting of the SA Ladies Open, Sunshine Tour, Provincial Opens, Interprovincial tournaments, Ernie Els foundations, SA Open Qualifying rounds, Interschools and Senior Opens and looks forward to hosting many more in the future as this forms part of Devonvale’s ethos.”
Stellenbosch Golf Club (33.5km)
“Stellenbosch Golf Club has already celebrated its centenary, but it was only in 1953 that it grew from a 9-hole course into 18 holes. It has a championship layout that has hosted many prestigious tournaments in the past. Amongst others, the South African Open and South African Masters were hosted at this picturesque 18-hole layout. The 1999 SA Open at Stellenbosch Golf Club proved to be one of the toughest Opens in the last decade.
This is the 4th oldest golf club in South Africa – it has aesthetic views of mountains from clubhouse balcony, is surrounded by vineyards and offers a wide variety of the finest South African wines.”

The 300 hectare Winelands Golf Estate offers golfers and visitors the opportunity to enjoy wine tasting and dining at Terroir Restaurant. Golfers and visitors can also relax on the terrace at the spectacular clubhouse where they can enjoy superb breakfasts and lunches.
Come and enjoy a walk in the Winelands!”
Durbanville Golf Club (34.8km)
“Situated on the gently rolling slopes of the Durbanville Hills, Durbanville Golf Club provides an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all abilities. Through holes such as Fire Agate, Maw Sit Sit and Snowflake Obsidian, The Jewel of the North provides plenty to conjure with and greens that rate among the finest in the Western Cape.
This thriving club offers its members and visitors more than just a great golfing challenge. It offers an opportunity to meet new acquaintances and playing partners and it is a place where family, friends and clients can relax and enjoy a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
With its superb facilities, Durbanville Golf Club prides itself on combining traditional values with a refreshingly modern approach that makes your experience as a visitor or member the envy of clubs for miles around.”
“Historically the property bordered a nature reserve and two historical farms and when it was zoned for high density development in 1988, David Gant, the owner of Lourensford Estate, decided to buy the farm and develop the land himself.
He invited Ian Player, South Africa’s best-known environmentalist at the time to view the area. At Ian’s suggestion he contacted Gary Player, Ian’s brother, with the idea of developing a residential golf course. Despite not being a regular golfer, Gant no doubt knew about the success of the few other golf estates in South Africa at the time. Gary came, was suitably impressed, and soon after the decision was made to construct the first golf estate in the Cape Town area.
On Saturday, 27 May 1995, two years and six months after the launch of the development, the clubhouse and the 18-hole Gary Player designed golf course was officially opened.”
